Target Training (TT) was established in July 1999 by Louise Targett. After 10 years experience working for shopping centre landlords and tracking the KPIs of retailers both large and small, it was a natural progression in Louise’s career. TT was offered retailers and shopping centres a consulting service to identify gaps in performance and make recommendations for business growth.

TT soon formed an alliance with the Australian Retailers Association and Louise Targett was made responsible for delivering the highly acclaimed “Retailing with the GST” package to retail groups across Australia, prior to the new tax system coming into effect on 1 July 2000. During this time, Louise also developed a series of training manuals and learning guides, focusing on key business issues, which were sold to retail groups as workshop series and seminars.

After a lengthy process and audit by VETAB (Vocational Education Training and Accreditation Board), TT was successful in being recognised as a Registered Training Organisations (RTO) in September 2001.
Approval for funding of traineeships and apprenticeships by the Department of Education and Training followed in 2004, and a partnership forged with the National Retail Association QLD allowing services to be provided ompanies’ clients in NSW and QLD.

TT soon expanded its premises and grew thto both crough word of mouth and good will, securing contracts with some of the top 150 companies including Caltex Australia, Mirvac, Sigma Corporation and AMP Shopping Centres.
In 2005 TT launched a partner model as an ideal strategy to provide national coverage for clients with geographically spread staff. Although e-learning was starting to take off, traditional face-to-face delivery continued to prove higher completion rates and greater staff commitment to learning overall.

By 2010 Target Training established Business Managers and Contractors in all key states and territories in Australia. The qualification offering gradually grew to offer more Business qualifications, Hospitality, Finance and Customer Contact. Establishing quality offices on QLD Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast meant the business could successfully service the entire state.
From 2013 to 2016 the VET industry experienced changes to federal funding budgets, policy changes and the launch of a student loan scheme. These years proved to be the toughest the industry had seen in decades. Many training organisations closed or were bought out by larger entities. The Federal Governments VET FEE HELP student loan scheme failed, costing them billions of dollars and causing more training organisations to close due to unscrupulous behaviour or financial hardship.

Target Training launched Childcare and Aged Care qualifications to its offering during these years, in order to work within growth industries, and as a result of customer enquiry.

By focussing on its core business, and focussing on growth strategies, Target Training has survived the highs and lows of the VET industry. Head Office and all administration, marketing, compliances and financial control remains in our Sydney office with off-site approved contractors operating across most states of Australia. Louise Targett has remained at the helm, with the support of an incredible administration team, high quality industry trainer/assessors, and Business Managers.

With Target Training entering its 20th year of operation, watch this space for more exciting news, qualifications and improvements.
